FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do clients choose U.S. Plumbing and Rooter?

Knowledge, experience, communication, honesty and reputation for providing the right solutions at the best price for our customers. Backed by our committed office staff who are focused on each individual customer's needs and how we can bring them peace of mind. But don't just take our word for it, ask any of our customers and see for yourself.

Why am I being charged a service fee?

Most plumbing companies in the East Bay Area will likely not charge you a service fee but at U.S. Plumbing and Rooter we have the highest standards in technician training and screening, customer support, and satisfaction follow-up. When we arrive, our service fee allows us to thoroughly diagnose your plumbing issues right from the start. We pride ourselves on providing a higher standard of service from beginning to end, with total transparency and honesty in our competitive pricing.

Also - keep in mind that the service fee charge will go towards any repairs needed, so actually, the diagnosis is free if we do the job. And there are some exceptions to this charge, of course. Just ask our office staff and we'd be happy to explain the process to you.

I own rental properties, can you fix plumbing for my tenants?

Absolutely, we can service any properties you may own and bill you directly, rather than have to worry your tenants with any service fees or charges. And if you are to busy to meet our technician at the property, we'd be glad to call you with a diagnosis and several different options for repair before proceeding.

What is your hourly rate?

Our company does not charge by the hour, we charge by the job and YOU will know how much we are charging for each job BEFORE we start any work. The benefit is catered to the consumer. If the job takes longer than expected, you don’t pay a dime more. You know what the charge is and you know that there are not any unexpected charges later on, no matter how long the job takes to complete.

Are you a licensed contractor?

Yes. U.S. Plumbing and Rooter is a licensed contractor # 1030825. You can look us up to verify at www.cslb.ca.gov. Remember, if an unlicensed contractor completes work on your home, and anything goes wrong, you may have a problem with your insurance company paying for any related damages! Cheaper does not always mean better!

Does store-bought drain cleaner work well for clogs?

Store-bought drain cleaners are generally made of harsh chemical agents. So, even if they appear to fix the problem, they usually cause damage to your pipes. Plus, it's generally a quick but short-term fix as opposed to a long-term solution. Problems like tree root intrusion can cause slow or clogged drains and you need a professional analysis when you have blocked plumbing.

What is the difference between Home Warranty work and Retail?

U.S. Plumbing and Rooter is contracted to service multiple warranty companies in California, like American Home Shield, First American, Select Home Warranty, Old Republic Home Protection and so many more. Retail work means the job is not being paid for by any warranty company, the service is between the customer and U.S. Plumbing. This can also apply to a warranty customer who's claim has been denied coverage but they are still in need of service, that is when the warranty claim would become a retail job. Ask our office for more information on this process.

Generally speaking, if you're having service completed using a warranty or insurance policy, the process does tend to take a little longer so please be patient. There are steps such as authorization, approval and deductibles that have to be addressed before we're authorized to do any repairs by your chosen warranty company. And everyone's policy is different, if you're unsure if you're going to have an out of pocket cost, denial or coverage for any plumbing items - please call your warranty company and allow them to explain it more detailed. Our technicians do not know what kind of policy you have, so all those questions and concerns should be directed at the warranty company itself.
